We come from different places, yet we have similar stories, and that is why it matters to share them. 💛 It reminds us that we are not alone and that there are people who understand. I believe that to truly understand a person, you have to go through a process. I am so happy to have met you because you understood things about me that others might not have caught, because of our similar upbringing. Naz, there are some things I just can’t understand. The very day you got home from Okoboji, You sent me a wonderful text. And here you are already writing a fully formed stunning post on Substack just four or five days after getting home from the retreat. Whereas I still have yet to unpack my car. I was in Okoboji camping at the state park when my tent was damaged and I need to package it up to send to the manufacturer for them to repair. But that tent is still sitting in the garage, not packaged up. Sprawling out all over my sawhorses and wheelbarrow. I haven’t vacuumed my carpets yet. My kitchen is a wreck with half of the stuff from my car piled up in the kitchen. How is it that you and so many others are able to keep your mind on task and accomplish these wonderful things when I seem to be flailing underneath the menagerie of daily tasks? Yes I’ve spent a good six hours since returning from Okoboji working on my novel. But still, you amaze me! Your focus. Your insights. Your direction. I am so happy to have you in my life.
I love this message, my sweet! Immediately after I submitted my comment, I decided the best way to move forward with my novel. Today is to work on getting my tasks in the house caught up. I feel very good about this decision. Maybe when I finish tidying the kitchen I’ll send you a picture!
